Baseball Recap: Western Comes Up Short

Western was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sunset Knights.

Western got a good showing from Rhyss Rojas, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rojas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Miguel Tapia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Anthony Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Western now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Sunset, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Western Wildcats challenge West Broward Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sunset, they will face off against ABF Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
