The Peoria Notre Dame Irish are taking a road trip to face off against the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Peoria Notre Dame beat Centennial 5-2. The Irish haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lexie Dallinger-Eaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Tady was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Avery Ginglen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Deer Creek-Mackinaw hadn't done well against Tremont recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Chiefs put the hurt on the Turks with a sharp 16-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.
Mackenzie Knowles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Rudy Gilbert was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Payton Schweigert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tremont only posted an OBP of .308.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw's record now sits at 10-6. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Peoria Notre Dame suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Deer Creek-Mackinaw in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
