Baseball Recap: Galatia/Thompsonville Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Galatia/Thompsonville waltzed into their match on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cisne Runnin' Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

Eli Hankins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Joey Sais was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Colin Jenkins was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Galatia/Thompsonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Galatia/Thompsonville's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cisne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
