Basketball Game Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears

Elkin hasn't had much luck against Mount Airy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks are taking a road trip to take on the Mount Airy Granite Bears at 7:45 p.m. Mount Airy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Elkin, who comes in off a win.

Elkin will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Alleghany, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Elkin walked away with a 64-55 victory over Alleghany on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy didn't have quite enough to beat North Surry on Friday and fell 54-51. While losing is never fun, the Granite Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 143rd).

Mount Airy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Elkin, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Elkin skirted past Mount Airy 58-55 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elkin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
