Preview: Brewster Bears vs. Zillah Leopards
The Brewster Bears will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Zillah Leopards at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Brewster knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Zillah likes a good challenge.
Brewster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Reardan last Tuesday as Brewster made off with a 67-42 victory. Given Brewster's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Reardan is ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Pepper Boesel, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Paige Wulf was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Zillah has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 61-39 margin over College Place.
Brewster pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36 points. As for Zillah, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
