Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Knights vs. Murphysboro Red Devils
The Metro-East Lutheran Knights had to endure a 17-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Murphysboro with a 37-33 win on Saturday. Metro-East Lutheran's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Metro-East Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Kober led the charge by scoring nine points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Hopp, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Metro-East Lutheran's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-16. As for Murphysboro, they bumped their record down to 1-20 with that loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metro-East Lutheran will take on Dupo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Dupo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday. As for Murphysboro, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Century at 6:15 p.m. Century is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
