Softball Recap: Upper St. Clair Takes a Loss

Upper St. Clair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Allegheny Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 two weeks ago.

Upper St. Clair saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Barnard, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Upper St. Clair now has a losing record of 5-6. As for West Allegheny, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upper St. Clair will head out to face off against Chartiers Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for West Allegheny, they will square off against South Fayette at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
