Volleyball Game Preview: Jackson Polar Bears vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons

The Jackson Polar Bears will challenge the Austintown-Fitch Falcons at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Austintown-Fitch will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Jackson extended their winning streak to six on Saturday. Everything went the Polar Bears' way against Norwalk as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Jackson was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Austintown-Fitch made easy work of Lakeview on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Falcons have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.

Austintown-Fitch's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Jackson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Austintown-Fitch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Jackson skirted past Austintown-Fitch 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Falcons' Isabella Direnzo, who had 25 digs and two aces. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for the Polar Bears to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
