Basketball Game Preview: Western Reserve Blue Devils vs. Cornerstone Christian Patriots

The Western Reserve Blue Devils will square off against the Cornerstone Christian Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Western Reserve is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chalker 74-44. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian entered their tilt with Heartland Christian on Tuesday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victor by a 57-31 margin over the Lions. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Lions are ranked 601st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cornerstone Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Western Reserve, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Western Reserve came up short against Cornerstone Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 52-40. Can Western Reserve avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
