Volleyball Recap: Brainerd Comes Up Short

Brainerd lost against Detroit Lakes back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Warriors fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 3-2. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lakers 25-21 in the first set.

Brainerd wouldn't go down easily and took Detroit Lakes into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Brainerd saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Preslee Glynn had 15 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Glynn. Another player making a difference was Attly Speer, who had seven digs and one assist.

This is the second loss in a row for Brainerd and nudges their season record down to 1-8. As for Detroit Lakes, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Brainerd is set to face off against their familiar foe Rocori at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Detroit Lakes will challenge rival Fergus Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
