Softball Recap: Mt. Shasta Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mt. Shasta can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trinity Wolves 4-3. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Emily Pigoni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mt. Shasta's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaley Lanier, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The win got Mt. Shasta back to even at 10-10-1. As for Trinity, they moved to 14-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mt. Shasta beat the Wolves by a score of 12-2 later that day.
