Basketball Recap: Alta Vista Charter Lobos vs. Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes
If the Alta Vista Charter Lobos were riding high off their 67-47 takedown of the Mission Heights Prep Phantoms last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Alta Vista Charter took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heroes on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Alta Vista Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Heroes are ranked 62nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage Academy Gateway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Johnston, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Bo Dalton, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Alta Vista Charter has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alta Vista Charter will take on the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sequoia Charter is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
