Softball Preview: Geneseo Maple Leafs vs. Quincy Blue Devils
Geneseo has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Quincy Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Geneseo is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Monday, just like they did against Orion (and have done all season long). Everything went Geneseo's way against Orion on Saturday as Geneseo made off with an 11-1 win.
Talisa Thomas looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Sidney Spindel and Madisyn Buysse did most of the damage at the plate: Spindel fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Buysse got on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Quincy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 19-14 victory over the Warriors.
Geneseo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
