Softball Recap: Clay Drops Highest Score of Season Against Glenwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clay). They never let the Glenwood Tigers get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Elin Shaw was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven games. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laney Shepherd, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Chloe Crabtree also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Clay is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Glenwood, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay will face off against East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenwood, they will challenge Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
