Baseball Recap: Woodcreek Wins Going Away Against Ponderosa

There's no place like home for Woodcreek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Ponderosa Bruins on Tuesday. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Timberwolves yet this season.

Woodcreek got a great performance from Bryson Ruiz as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ruiz is becoming a predictor of Woodcreek's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, LT Lindsay was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Palmer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Woodcreek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Woodcreek moved to 3-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Ponderosa, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Woodcreek will have a chance to go back-to-back against Ponderosa: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
