Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Mesivta

Mesivta came tearing into Sunday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 51-44 victory over the Girard College Cavaliers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 39-36 back in December of 2024.

Mesivta was led to victory by Nathanel Bitas and Shaked Ben-David. Bitas posted ten points and three steals, while Ben-David earned 14 points. Bitas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tzvi Bril, who had six points.

Despite the loss, Girard College still got an impressive performance from Amadu Mansaray, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Abdul-Raheem Devlin, who put up seven points.

Mesivta's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Girard College, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesivta won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Foundation Collegiate Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mesivta is facing Foundation Collegiate Academy at the right time seeing as Foundation Collegiate Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Girard College, they will venture away from home to face off against Kohelet Yeshiva at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
