Basketball Recap: Phillips Comes Up Short

Phillips lost against Marion County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Phillips Bears fell 73-65 to the Marion County Red Raiders. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Marion County to victory were Tye Madison and Samuel Taylor. Madison dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards, while Taylor went 6 for 15 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Taylor a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Philip Wilson, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Phillips' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Marion County, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Hackleburg the next time they take the court. Phillips will host Hackleburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Marion County will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
