The Western Albemarle Warriors will head out to face off against the Goochland Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Western Albemarle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.

Western Albemarle fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Fluvanna County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-7 to the Flying Flucos. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Flying Flucos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Addy Hux was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Aniyah Sims also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Goochland never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Charlottesville last Thursday. They blew past the Black Knights 17-4. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Avery Newman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Goochland got a massive performance out of Sadie Grimes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Grimes a new career-high. Kaylee Markey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Goochland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlottesville only posted a batting average of .111.

Having lost for the first time this season, Western Albemarle fell to 4-1. As for Goochland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both Western Albemarle and Goochland just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Goochland struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Western Albemarle came up short against Goochland in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
