Softball Recap: North Haven Has No Trouble Against Branford

While North Haven put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Branford. The Nighthawks were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Hornets. The Nighthawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19th (when they won 15-0).

Not much got past Gianna Pires, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Branford off the board. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Pires.

On the hitting side, Chloe Belcher was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Ferriouolo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for North Haven and bumps their season record up to 4-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Branford, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Haven will square off against Sacred Heart Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Branford, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against East Haven at 4:15 p.m.
