            Softball Recap: Malad Dragons vs. Firth Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Malad waltzed into their match  on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Firth Cougars as they made off with  a  21-1 win. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by  exactly 20  runs.
 Riglee Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate,  scoring five  runs while going 4-for-5.
 In other batting news, Malad let  Brylee Oglesbee and  Hadlee Summers run wild. Oglesbee  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and three  runs, while  Summers  went a perfect 5-for-5 with two  stolen bases, five  RBI,  and two  runs. That's the most  hits  Oglesbee has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Logan Maroney, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI.
 Malad  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 19  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in three consecutive  contests.

Malad's victory was  their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 12-2. The  road  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Firth, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malad will venture away from home to  challenge Soda Springs  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Firth, they will head out to  face off against West Jefferson  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
