Softball Preview: Valley Park Hawks vs. Ladue Horton Watkins Rams        
        
		
             Valley Park has gone 6-1 against Ladue Horton Watkins recently and they'll look to pad the win column further  on Monday. The Valley Park Hawks will stay at home for another  game and welcome the Ladue Horton Watkins Rams at 4:15  p.m. Valley Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8  runs per game  this season.
 On Friday, Valley Park got the win against Ursuline Academy  by a conclusive  13-3.
  Jaecie Bowen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing six innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. Bowen was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jenna Chitwood, who  went 3-for-4 with a  home run, two  runs, and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Meghan Reinwald, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.
 Meanwhile,  after soaring to 12  runs the game before, Ladue Horton Watkins was a bit more limited  in their  matchup  on Thursday. They lost  11-1 to Ritenour. The loss was the Rams' first of the season.
 Even though they lost, Ladue Horton Watkins  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with eight  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ritenour only tossed three.
 The  win  got Valley Park back to even at 2-2. As for Ladue Horton Watkins, their  loss was their first of the  season and  makes their record 2-1.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley Park has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 7  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ladue Horton Watkins struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 11. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
