Basketball Recap: Earlville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hiawatha

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Earlville). They really took it to the Hiawatha Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-31 victory. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Red Raiders had established a 25 point advantage.

Among those leading the charge was Natalie Hall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. What's more, she also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kyley Helgesen, who posted 12 points.

Earlville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games.

Earlville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-17 record this season. As for Hiawatha, they are on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Earlville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-47 defeat against Newark on the 24th. Hiawatha has also already played their next game (against Forreston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
