Preston took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Buckhannon-Upshur, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Buccaneers 13-11. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 24, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Rhylinn Sanders was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 17 matches. Another player making a difference was Camdyn Metheny, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Preston moved to 7-18 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Preston will head out on the road to take on University at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Buckhannon-Upshur does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
