Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 8-16-2 to make it eight. They lost 12-0 to the Centennial Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Grizzlies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Centennial's part, Gabriel Soto tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Soto has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Terrell Otis, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Spring Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Centennial will take on rival Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
