Baseball Recap: Rio Mesa Comes Up Short

Rio Mesa's last matchup with Ventura could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Spartans lost 11-1 to the Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.

Rio Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damien Valdez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Rio Mesa has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18-1 record this season. As for Ventura, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6-1.

Rio Mesa wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-0 victory against St. Bonaventure on the 26th. As for Ventura, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Dos Pueblos on the 29th.
