Basketball Game Preview: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. Clover Garden School Grizzlies

Cornerstone Charter is 8-2 against Clover Garden School since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Both will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Clover Garden School took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cornerstone Charter, who comes in off a win.

Cornerstone Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 64-33 win over Triad Math and Science Academy. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their 22-point performance the contest before.

Cornerstone Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Charles Walker was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Cornerstone Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Clover Garden School had to suffer through a 75-32 loss at the hands of Southern Wake Academy. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Cornerstone Charter's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Clover Garden School, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
