Preview: Evansville Christian Eagles vs. Northeast Dubois Jeeps

The Evansville Christian Eagles will take on the Northeast Dubois Jeeps at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Evansville Christian will be strutting in after a win while Northeast Dubois will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Evansville Christian humbled Lighthouse Christian Academy with a 47-14 victory.

Evansville Christian found their leader in underclassman Peyton Geer, who scored 15 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Grubb, who scored a point along with ten steals and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northeast Dubois was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 33-29 to Vincennes Rivet.

Despite the defeat, Northeast Dubois saw an underclassman step up: Bella Cummins scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cummins has scored all season.

Evansville Christian's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Northeast Dubois, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Evansville Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northeast Dubois struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Evansville Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Northeast Dubois in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evansville Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
