Softball Recap: Queen Creek Makes It 21 in a Row on the Road

Queen Creek faced Pinnacle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Pioneers back in March, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Not much got past Aubrey Chavez, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Pinnacle off the board. Chavez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

Queen Creek pushed their record up to 28-6 with the victory, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Pinnacle, they moved to 18-7-1 with that defeat, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Queen Creek beat the Pioneers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.
