Baseball Game Preview: Bellevue Redmen vs. Perkins Pirates

The Bellevue Redmen are taking a road trip to take on the Perkins Pirates at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Bellevue has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Bellevue turned things around against Columbian on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tornadoes, sneaking past 3-1.

Meanwhile, Perkins got the win against Sandusky on Thursday by a conclusive 13-2. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Perkins got a great performance from Josh Cummings as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Cummings has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Perkins let Kash Koch and Talon Walton run wild. Koch went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Walton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Davie, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Perkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.

Bellevue's record now sits at 8-5. As for Perkins, their record is now 8-3-1.

Bellevue couldn't quite get it done against Perkins in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 3-0. Can the Redmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
