Lincoln East is a perfect 4-0 against Elkhorn South since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Lincoln East will challenge Elkhorn South at 9:30 p.m. One thing working in Lincoln East's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
On Thursday, Lincoln East made easy work of Lincoln High and carried off a 25-3 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Links recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Troy Peltz made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peltz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Greyson Bjorkman looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Bryson Rhodes was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Dele Odulate, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Lincoln East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn South gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Bellevue West 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.
Like Lincoln East, Elkhorn South also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Musil. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Musil was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Musil wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cam Cooper, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Cooper a new career-high.
Lincoln East pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Elkhorn South, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Elkhorn South's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .538. It's a different story for Elkhorn South, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Lincoln East's hitters?
Lincoln East skirted past Elkhorn South 3-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will Lincoln East repeat their success, or does Elkhorn South has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
