Football Game Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Lions vs. Central Catholic Eagles

The Covenant Christian Academy Lions will square off against the Central Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Covenant Christian Academy had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 46-point drubbing they dealt Centerville on Friday. The Lions took their game with ease, bagging a 46-0 victory over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.

Covenant Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Owen Trosclair, who rushed for 31 yards and a pair of scores, and Braydon Percle, who rushed for 104 yards and two TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Percle a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic was beaten by Jeanerette 44-7 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Tigers are ranked 97th).

Central Catholic's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Covenant Christian Academy against Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-13 victory. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
