Football Recap: Alvin Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Alvin kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Bastrop Bears, falling 55-14. The Yellowjackets were down 49-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Alvin took the loss, they still got scores from Alex Avitia and Keegan Moore.

Bastrop's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Weston Nielsen led the charge by throwing for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Gary Jefferson Jr., who gained 166 total yards and three touchdowns.

Alvin has already played their next contest, a 41-14 win against Fort Bend Dulles on the 5th. As for Bastrop, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 48-34 victory against China Spring on the 5th.
