Basketball Game Preview: Wisner-Pilger Gators vs. Clarkson/Leigh Patriots

Wisner-Pilger and Clarkson/Leigh are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Wisner-Pilger Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots on Tuesday.

Wisner-Pilger fought the good fight in their overtime contest against West Point-Beemer on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cadets. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Cadets are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clarkson/Leigh, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They strolled past Wakefield with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 58-39.

Clarkson/Leigh has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Wisner-Pilger, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Wisner-Pilger, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Clarkson/Leigh when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Wisner-Pilger, Chloe Hanel (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
