Baseball Recap: Simi Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Camarillo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Simi Valley). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Camarillo Scorpions on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Simi Valley got a great performance from Kyle Casey as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Casey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evan Rodriguez was a standout: he scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Quentin McGahan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Simi Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Simi Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Camarillo, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Simi Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Scorpions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
