Softball Recap: Northside's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Northside has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging two runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They blew past the Scarborough Spartans 18-10. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Lesley Costilla and Analya Meza did most of the damage at the plate: Costilla went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Meza went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, Costilla is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Camilla Jimenez, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Northside lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory keeps Northside at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Scarborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Northside Panthers take on Wheatley Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Scarborough, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Worthing at 10:00 a.m. on April 12.
