Nevaeh 'Slim' Ortiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Ortiz was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mya Baca was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Ellie Padilla was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

West Mesa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pius X only posted an OBP of .269.

Meanwhile, Eldorado won against Del Norte on Thursday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Eldorado blew past Los Alamos 19-8. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Eldorado got a massive performance out of Gigi Medina-Vigil, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mya Zamora, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for West Mesa and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, their record now sits at 5-6.
