Basketball Game Preview: Soldotna Stars vs. Cook Inlet Academy Eagles

The Soldotna Stars will be taking part in a tournament against the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Soldotna is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Soldotna is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Mountain City Christian Academy on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Soldotna took a blow against Mountain City Christian Academy, falling 73-40. The Stars were down 53-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Cook Inlet Academy faced Minto in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Cook Inlet Academy was the clear victor by an 80-59 margin over Minto. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Soldotna now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Cook Inlet Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Soldotna against Cook Inlet Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, as the squad secured a 75-38 victory. Does Soldotna have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cook Inlet Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
