Baseball Game Preview: Kiski Area Cavaliers vs. Butler Golden Tornado

The Kiski Area Cavaliers will take on the Butler Golden Tornado at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Thursday, Kiski Area came up short against Fox Chapel and fell 6-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Foxes: they've now lost three in a row.

Kiski Area saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Deluca, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Deluca has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Indiana, falling 8-1.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Kiski Area, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kiski Area has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Butler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Kiski Area suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Butler in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
