Softball Recap: West Iredell Comes Up Short

West Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-5 to the Hibriten Panthers. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2021.

West Iredell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Johnson launched this season.

Johnson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: West Iredell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

West Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hibriten, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Looking ahead, West Iredell will head out on the road to face off against Statesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Iredell is facing Statesville at the right time seeing as Statesville is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hibriten, they will be playing at home against Ashe County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hibriten is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
