Softball Recap: Lexington Tigers vs. Carter Green Hornets

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Lexington couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carter Green Hornets on Wednesday.

Kailyn Melton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 11 consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Lexington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holly Bartholomew, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 35-16-1. As for Carter, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-9.
