Preview: Montgomery Academy Eagles vs. Saint James Trojans

The Montgomery Academy Eagles will be playing at home against the Saint James Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Montgomery Academy has six straight wins, Saint James has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Even though Montgomery Academy has not done well against Montgomery Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Montgomery Academy came out on top against Montgomery Catholic by a score of 66-54. Given Montgomery Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Montgomery Catholic is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montgomery Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skyler Stovall, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Stovall hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Saint James suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Alabama Christian Academy by a score of 38-36.

Montgomery Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Saint James, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Montgomery Academy strolled past Saint James when the teams last played last Friday by a score of 57-38. Will Montgomery Academy repeat their success, or does Saint James have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
