Basketball Recap: Claiborne Academy Takes a Loss

Claiborne Academy easily dispatched Central School last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Claiborne Academy Rebels fell just short of the Riverdale Academy Rebels by a score of 41-38 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for Claiborne Academy in their matchups with Riverdale Academy: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Claiborne Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaylee Baird, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points. The game was Baird's 12th in a row with at least ten points.

Claiborne Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-9. As for Riverdale Academy, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 20-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Claiborne Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverdale Academy, they will host Louisiana Math Science & Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
