Softball Game Preview: Alleman Pioneers vs. Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans

The Alleman Pioneers will square off against the Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Alleman, who comes in off a win.

Alleman is headed out to face Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Alleman was the clear victor by a 19-9 margin over Abingdon/Avon on Monday.

Kendall Possin was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Alysa Brinkman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.

Alleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .519 that Abingdon/Avon posted.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of Mercer County by a score of 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ella Humphrey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerigan Lewis, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.

Alleman couldn't quite finish off Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can Alleman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
