Basketball Game Preview: Tygarts Valley Bulldogs vs. East Hardy Cougars

Tygarts Valley is 2-8 against East Hardy since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs will challenge the East Hardy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Tygarts Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Paw Paw 78-60. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

It was another big night for Jacob Wamsley, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Harris, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Tygarts Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paw Paw only three assists.

Meanwhile, East Hardy entered their tilt with Pocahontas County on Friday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Warriors 92-33. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

East Hardy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points over those games. As for Tygarts Valley, their record is now 13-9.

Tygarts Valley couldn't quite get it done against East Hardy when the teams last played back in February as they fell 49-37. Can Tygarts Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
