Basketball Recap: Miller Place Takes a Loss

Miller Place lost against Islip back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Miller Place Panthers took a hard 57-43 fall against the Islip Buccaneers.

Despite the loss, Miller Place still got an impressive performance from Ava Zicchinelli, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. That was a full 41.9% of Miller Place's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Orenzo, who put up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Miller Place smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Miller Place has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Miller Place will host John Glenn at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Islip, they will venture away from home to face off against Kings Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
