Basketball Game Preview: St. Paul Wildcats vs. Holdrege Dusters

St. Paul is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Holdrege is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The St. Paul Wildcats will host the Holdrege Dusters at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Paul has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

St. Paul is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Ravenna with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 66-49. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bluejays recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Holdrege faced Cozad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Holdrege walked away with an 82-73 win over Cozad.

Holdrege is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for St. Paul, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

St. Paul suffered a grim 74-48 defeat to Holdrege in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holdrege's Garret Johnson, who went 12 of 24 to rack up 38 points in addition to eight assists and five boards.
