The Downingtown East Cougars will head out to face off against the Coatesville Red Raiders at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Downingtown East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Downingtown East gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Oxford as they made off with a 20-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Sam Wendig made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Wendig was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Baroni, who went 4-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Like Downingtown East, Coatesville also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracelynn Landis. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Landis has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jillian Wimmer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sherry, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Downingtown East now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Coatesville, their record is now 9-2.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Downingtown East has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Coatesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
