White Oak is 1-9 against Swansboro since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. The last three games White Oak has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, White Oak needed a bit of extra time to put away Lejeune. They had just enough and edged out the Devil Pups 8-7. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Devil Pups recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
White Oak let Brandon Brandt and Ryan Baxter run wild. Brandt went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Baxter went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Baxter a new career-high. Jamison Avila also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Swansboro never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against McMichael last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Phoenix.
Josh Scott made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. In other batting news, Nick Quinones was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Zack Phillips was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Swansboro's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for White Oak, their record now sits at 6-10.
White Oak came up short against Swansboro in their previous meeting back in March, falling 10-7. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
