Preview: St. Anthony's Friars vs. Chaminade Flyers

The St. Anthony's Friars will head out on the road to take on the Chaminade Flyers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Anthony's is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but St. Anthony's had to settle for a 55-52 defeat against St. Dominic.

Despite their defeat, St. Anthony's saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nicolas Vieux, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Connor Mannix, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Chaminade pushed their score all the way to 88 back in January, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 93-88 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Raymond Boys. While losing is never fun, Chaminade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while St. Raymond Boys is ranked second).

St. Anthony's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Chaminade, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

St. Anthony's came up short against Chaminade in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 43-35. Can St. Anthony's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
