Soccer Game Preview: Heritage vs. Dalton

The Heritage Generals will venture away from home to challenge the Dalton Catamounts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Dalton will be up against a hot Heritage squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Generals blew past Ringgold 7-4 on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Heritage's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Ringgold are ranked 377th).

Meanwhile, Dalton entered their tilt with Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Bruins.

Heritage pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five games. As for Dalton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Heritage might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Dalton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Generals were down 3-0.
